Ernie

Ernie is our oldest resident, he came to Rose’s Refuge after being surrendered to the pound with his friends Bert and Sally, who have sadly since passed away. Ernie is just one of many animals who find themselves abandoned in pounds at risk of being killed for convenience. We are so glad that Ernie ended up here with our family. We love him so much.

Wilbur

Wilbur is another of our family who came to us from the pound. Pigs are notoriously difficult to find homes for and Wilbur was facing a very uncertain future, luckily a kind person contacted Rose’s Refuge and asked us to take Wilbur. At first Wilbur was only meant to stay for a short time, but we absolutely fell in love with him and couldn’t let him go.

Ruth & Aura

Ruth was saved from a sale yard, she was being bid on by kill buyers, and if not for being bid on by rescuers, she would have been slaughtered in a knackery. It was only after Ruth was rescued did we discover she was in foal. Seven months later, Ruth gave birth to beautiful little Aura. They will spend the rest of their lives here together at Rose’s Refuge.

Angie

Angie’s story is heartbreaking one, but one of hope in the darkest of circumstances. Angie was born aboard a truck en route to a slaughterhouse. Luckily for Angie and her best friend Suzie, who was also born on the truck, the driver wanted to give them a chance at life. After dropping Angie and Suzie’s mother’s off to the slaughterhouse the two were surrendered to the loving arms of a rescuer and brought to Rose’s Refuge.

Jojo

Jo was found as a young goat kid abandoned in a secluded area. Luckily for Jo he was discovered by a kind passer-by who was concerned for his safety and health given it was clear he had been abandoned and was obviously hungry and stressed. Jo holds an incredibly special place in our hearts and we are so lucky to be able to share our lives with him.

Ruby

Ruby was found abandoned on the side of a road on a freezing winters day when she was just a newborn. Someone drove by and spotted Ruby’s tiny, shivering little body, they brought her into the warm car and drove her to safety. The following day, Ruby was surrendered to Rose’s Refuge.
